I along with many other ladies worked so hard on getting the 5th grade event ready and in order! "Lights Camera Action!" was our theme... we were getting everything in order from a photo booth to the DJ to an escape room! We were even working on getting a video crew to come out so the kiddos could do little videos! I was researching the food... I love food... so why not head up the food committee? lol
WELL... as we all know... COVID-19 really put a wrench in our plans! We racked our brains and we decided to do a drive by parade! We would drop off a sign at each 5th graders front yard and give them their 5th grade shirt! Although we all thought it was an amazing idea - the school district, especially the principal refused to help us one bit... we had to find all the parent's emails/phone numbers and figure out everything by ourselves! If someone was against the idea, obviously we wouldn't swing by their house but due to the lack of help from the district it was a lot of leg work for us... so glad to report it all came together and we found all our contact information!!
Last evening I drove in the parade... so fun! Decorated cars and more honking than I've ever done (or heard) in my life!! It was so magical to see all those smiles (and maybe a little embarrassment) as we dropped off their last 5th grade memoirs! The parade was headed by fire engines who also turned on their sirens! It gave me goosebumps!
Tonight was RJ's night!! I didn't ride in the parade because I wanted to be home with him for this special event. MeMom and Pop Pop also came over to see it all happen! AND tonight, Daddy AKA Officer Lee rode in the parade too! It was amazing! Although RJ was a little embarrassed I think - he was so excited to see all the attention for him! Lights blinking, sirens going, horns honking! It was such a happy occasion in this time of gloom!
