Sick? Ha!

Insert angry face here before starting this post!!

Today around 1:30 I got the dreaded call... from the school nurse.  RJ was in the nurse's office complaining of a bellyache.  He did not have a fever and had not thrown up, but he said he didn't feel good.

So... what to do... I had a group of 6th graders sitting in front of me.  I had to do therapy!  Bob was stuck on a very serious drug search at the freshman center so he was out.  I tried my mom, but MeMom was working at the candy store due to Mother's Day weekend.  I tried my mother-in-law, but she was heading out to an organ concert.  So... what happens, but I have to send back my 6th graders (who I haven't seen in weeks due to PSSA testing) and I pack up to leave.  I sure hope RJ is truly sick!!!  I really had to test a student this afternoon who had been absent for 3 days and his meeting is Monday.  Great!  How am I going to write his report if I don't have his testing done?  Welp, guess I can't worry about that now, but seriously... RJ better truly be sick!!

Not only do I have to leave school missing my lunch/prep time (that started at 2)... I can't finish therapy and I can't test that child...but also... now I need to go get my child from the one room I never like to enter!!!  Can I burn his clothes when I get home?!
As I was driving to get him I get about in front of our neighborhood and I get a call from my neighbor, "Hey Beth... I am here at the Nurses's office getting M.  RJ is laying right here next to him on the same bed.  Do you want me to bring him home too?"  Awesome.  So now he is 'sharing' a bed with his buddy... this is starting to smell fishy...  I thanked her but said I was almost there.

As I entered the nurse (trying not to breathe) I looked at him and said, "Buddy, you better really be sick.  You better not be teasing."  He just looked at me giving sad puppy dog eyes.  I handed him the trash can as the nurse glared at me... probably for saying that... but I was a bit annoyed... he had been sitting in the nurses room for over an hour at that point!  So if he wasn't really sick he was absorbing a lot of OTHER germs!!  Ugh.

Off we drove home... no puke yet... as soon as we entered the house I had him strip down to his birthday suit and washed his clothes in hot water (twice)!  He ran to the bathroom to go pee-pee and this is what I saw when he came out... smiling and being silly... is he really sick?

Off to his bedroom he went!  I told him to lay down and take a nap.  I know he didn't nap because all I heard was page turning the entire afternoon.  He wasn't happy to be in his bedroom but I told him if you are sick you are in your room!  When anyone is sick they go to their bedroom so they don't share germs with the rest of the family!  I sprayed lots of Lysol around just in case!

I checked on RJ every hour or so and he said he was doing ok.  Every time I asked him if his belly hurt he said no, does your head hurt, no...are you sick...yes.  Ugh!!  Around 5pm he said he was hungry.  I said I would get him so crackers.  He said no, I want carrots please.  Carrots?  What sick child asks for carrots?!  Ok... carrots to him.  (In my head thinking that will be gross puke!!)  Fast forward an hour and he asked for more carrots with ranch dip this time.  Ok... more carrots AND dip this time.  Around 7 he asked for noodles.  So Daddy made him a big bowl of noodles that he ate all of!

We will hope he doesn't wake up tonight...  but at this point I am not convinced he is truly sick!

Morgan in yellow

This silly girl was so excited to get one of her ballet costumes that she wanted to put it on and dance!  She posed a few times... then came the photo bomber!

I am so glad these two love each other... most of the time!!
