GO PHILLIES!!!

Go Phillies!!! Morgan and I had a blast today! A girl's day out! I took a half day and raced home. I jumped into my Phillies garb and grabbed Morgan! Back into the car and off to the train station we went. We waited about 10 minutes and the train came! While we waited Morgan chatted off my ear! She tried to chat up a man waiting too - but that didn't work too well. He was happier playing on his phone.

Morgan loved the train ride! She loved looking out the window. A couple stops into the ride Morgan asked, "Are we there yet?" I told her to enjoy the ride. She catted up a lady on the train about her excitement about going to her first Phillies game. She also explained that RJ loves trains but he was too little to go to the Phillies game. He was sad he couldn't come.

A man came onto the train at one point and sat in front of us. To me he looked like a typical man, but to Morgan apparently he did not when she made the comment nice and loud... "He can't sit here. I don't want him there. Boys are not allowed to have long hair." Teachable moment for Momma... little embarrassing, but I made sure to 'teach' nice and loud too. My only hope is that he didn't hear her because of his headphones.

Getting off the train into the underground train station was a bit overwhelming. Trying to find our way from the train to the subway entrance was a little nerve racking. Morgan pointed at the wall and said, "Momma, you should look at the schedule." I followed her point and gaze. "Oh," I said, "Yes, Morgan let's go look at the map on the wall, great idea!" We checked the map and off we headed in the right direction (I hoped!). We made it to the right spot! Yea!! We bought our tokens and headed into the subway terminals. We located the Broad Street Line and waited just a couple minutes and then came the subway! Morgan liked looking out the window. Not sure why because it was pitch black! Kept her busy and happy!

We got to to AT&T/Pattison stop and one last walk to the stadium! Yea! We walked to the stadium and Morgan got her first look!! It was chilly and the stadium was pretty dead, but we still had a great time! Morgan was so well behaved! She asked for a soft pretzel, and that was it!! I brought other snacks from home that she loved too. I offered her cotton candy, and she didn't like it because it "wasn't crunchy." Sugar for Momma! We stayed until the top of the ninth and then headed on our way home.

We got one of the first subways back. As soon as we entered I smelled the strong scent of urine. That is when I noticed a probable homeless man who had wet himself with a stream leading away from his foot. YUCK! Morgan didn't even make a comment, maybe she didn't notice, but I don't see how she couldn't have smelled something! The high-schoolers in front of me made enough comments to keep me chuckling the whole ride back to our train switch at City Hall. We found our way back to the Lansdale Line and waited. While we waited Morgan introduced herself and chatted with two separate ladies waiting for their train. We got the RIGHT train home and we made it home safe and sound! We never got lost, never made a wrong turn, never got confused!

Yea Morgan and Momma! We had an awesome outing together! I'm tired!!! But a great and happy tired!

Missions Fest, traveling by plane

Morgan had a great time 'traveling' by airplane to different countries. RJ tagged along too. It looks like they had a great time! Thanks Daddy for taking pictures!!

** SIDE NOTE ** Everyone asked Bob if I was from Romania b/c I made a Romanian Apple Cake. Apparently they ended up NOT going to Romania... but HELLO... check out the bulletin we were sent! Hence the ROMANIAN apple cake I made! I had to wrestle this flier out of the trash to see if I was wrong, so it is a little bit crumbly. But, NOPE I was correct this time!!

Little Bakers

Mission's Fest tomorrow at Morgan's school.
We had to create a treat from a foreign country. Morgan's 'flight' was going to several different countries and I found a Romanian Apple Cake (a place they were scheduled to visit) that looked pretty quick and easy to make with only a few ingredients, and only one 'need to buy' ingredient! The others were 'on hand!' We were to allow the little helpers to help us make our yummy for the day. Morgan helped put the apples into water for them to soak so they didn't turn brown, and helped put the ingredients into the mixer. She did a great job with everything... UNTIL... the flour needed to be added. She tried to just dump it all in quickly with the mixer hand going... poof! Big cloud of flour smoke everywhere! RJ did good at trying to eat the ingredients! But all hands were washed, so we were safe! I am disappointed I forgot to get a picture of the cake! It was a little worrisome when it first went in the oven because it looked very liquid-y and it didn't seem to look like the picture I had seen. But it rose! Whew! It looked delicious when it came out! Guess a good reason for me to make it again!!

Bar Mitzvah

Today we celebrated Ben's Bar Mitzvah with him. The service was about an hour and a half. It is the third or fourth one I have been too, but the second one I truly remember. Little things that I forgot... you read the book from right to left, not left to right, and very little English is spoken during the service. A lot of sounds that aren't in English are in the Hebrew language. I followed along in the book, but when 'all' were supposed to respond it was hard to say the correct sounds to say the accurate words, but I tried!

After the service there was a delicious oriental style happy hour with martinis as the alcohol of choice. After we filled up on the yummy Asian food we went in for the sit down supper. We got to pick between fish and Chicken Marsala. I picked the chicken and it wasn't the typical wine based Marsala, I really enjoyed it. Bob didn't like it quite as much because he really enjoys the wine based taste. Lots of music and 'kid' games ensued allowing Ben and all of his friends to play and have a blast. There was some typical (wedding) songs that got the grown-ups onto the dance floor too.

Dessert was a piece of Ben's cake and a fondue chocolate fountain! Yum!

We sat with Bobby&Nikki, Megan&Andy, and Scott&Laura. We had a good time, and now Bob has been to his first Bar Mitzvah and understands the process!

When we got home Morgan and RJ had had a great time with their Aunt Melanie! Thanks Aunt Melanie for watching them, they love you and we really appreciate you helping us out!!

How wonderfully nice to receive these roses at school! I have never gotten anything EVER delivered to me in my workplace. This delivery had no MAJOR reason, not anniversary, birthday, or I'm sorry gift.
