Thanksgiving Thanks

Today was unfortunately a strange Thanksgiving!  Although I am truly thankful for all that I have including family, friends, my home, and all my belongings, this year was just different...

RJ had a fever.  Ugh.  So... Bob stayed home with him and were unable to attend Thanksgiving with the family.

Once I got to MeMom's house I found out much of our family was not coming... none of my cousins came, which was a bummer.  The house seemed a bit quieter than usual.  We were blessed to have both Bobby and Megan's families with us, Aunt Daisy and Uncle Fred, Grandmom and Granddad and Aunt Melanie with us... but it just seemed small and just 'not the same' without my boys there!  I know things change, but I am such a traditionalist to a fault so it is hard not to have things as in years past... I need to deal with it and get used to the fact that it will not always be the same at the holidays...

A picture of my sad boy who couldn't make Thanksgiving...

And a quick selfie of Morgan and I at the end of the night!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who reads, I am thankful for all of you!

(Which probably only includes Pop Pop, Aunt Melanie, Uncle Andy, Aunt Meggie, and sometimes MeMom!)

Mardi Gras Parade

Today we enjoyed the afternoon with fun, food, and a parade!  We were invited to go to one of Bob's co-workers Aunt's house for pre-parade food and company and post-parade food and company.  Her home was on the back side of the parade so we were able to walk out her backdoor onto the parade route (and they saved space with their chairs!).  Perfect!  The food they shared was delicious - all homemade - quiche, biscuits, sweet potato pie, and the list goes on!

It became a little awkward at one point... my wonderful son asked a question... loudly.  (He was completely being innocent, but still embarrassing or a good teaching moment, or both?)  Let me preface with... Bill, Bob's coworker is African American.  As we are sitting in the living room eating the delicious food, RJ says, "Why do all these people have brown skin?," at which the grandmother (late 80's?!) says, "Oh honey, that's just the way God made us!"  Whew!  Thank goodness she was good with it... I continued by explaining about skin color and everyone is different... but, I am SURE my cheeks were bright RED with embarrassment!

Parade was fun, the kiddos got candy and most importantly saw Santa at the end of the parade!  Everyone had a blast... although it was a bit chilly!!!!

Morgan + Birthday = Painting Party

Morgan had an absolute blast at her party!!!  I think all the kiddos really enjoyed themselves!  They took their time and listened carefully to all the directions.  BUT... craziness ensued when it was down time!  I didn't realize how loud 11 little girls could be!  Holy Moly!!

Check out their fun!!

Here is the original...
And so they begin...
