Another day

Today was nothing exciting for RJ and I, but very exciting for Morgan! She got to go to Princesses On Ice today! Aunt Melanie spoiled her! Lucky duck!! Add Image All the princesses were there! Even Mickey and Minnie made an appearance! From the pictures the show looked really neat!! Aunt Melanie said Morgan had a hard time sitting in her seat because she was so excited to see the show! Aunt Melanie bought Morgan a souvenir book that outlined the show they watched. Aunt Melanie, Morgan says thank you and I love you lots!

Birthday fun!

Today the kids and I attended a birthday party for Nathan in Berwyn (a hike for us!). His mom and he were in the playgroup that I joined when Morgan was a tiny little peanut.

I thought I held crazy parties, but Laura (his Mom) had 30 kids plus adults scheduled to attend! Wow!! It was craziness but the kids seemed to all have a great time! There was a small moon bounce set up and lots of everyday toys to play with. I felt bad when everyone left... the clean-up was going to be insane! Came home and the kids both took naps while I did laundry...blah.

Tonight Aunt Melanie is taking Morgan for her first overnight away from me or MeMom/Pop Pop. I'm a little sad... mostly because she is growing up! She packed her bag, her sleeping bag, and her pillow pet. Have fun Morgan!

Mixed snow day feelings!

I LOVE snow!! I love playing in it, watching it fall, drinking hot cocoa by the fire, and even shoveling!!

I can even handle the fact that our snow day from school means another day added to the end of the year...

But I H.A.T.E. the fact that the CHOP ENT appointments for Morgan and RJ were cancelled. Urgh. Bob called yesterday to see what the facts were for today and he was told point blank that they never close and try very hard to stay open...

Got my "school's closed" call at ten after five this morning, then got my "we need to reschedule" appointment around 6:30 this morning. Now we need to wait ANOTHER week. They rescheduled for next Thursday at noon. Great... noon... Bob is working, Morgan has school in the morning and I have to work. I guess I will attempt to take a half day, and leave a bit earlier (if I get into school a bit earlier) to race back home to pick up the kids and race back to New Britain for our appointment. I better REALLY like this new doctor or the fangs may come out!!

We did have a nice day together! Morgan helped me make scones in the morning for breakfast, chocolate chip, yum! We stayed in our PJ's all day!! Perfect snow day! We had grilled cheese for lunch and then suited up to go out and play in the snow! (Did I mention Daddy was out 'plowing' from 7:30 until NOON...guess he was having fun!) RJ wasn't really happy, but wasn't really upset to be out in the snow... he just let us know his mitten came off every five seconds! He also got a little stuck in the snow which did not make him happy!

Morgan and I built a snowman together.
(One face facing our window, one face facing the street)
After we came in we had warm milk and naps for the kids. I worked on more wash and Daddy cleaned up the kitchen. For supper we had a crock pot beef stew that had been stewing all day and ended the day with some American Idol.

Nice day off! I could REALLY get used to having a day off a week!

Toys? Who needs them!

Morgan and RJ played the silliest game! They tried to balance the almost empty pretzel container on their heads and when it fell off they laughed uncontrollably! The laugh that is unbearably contagious! It was so silly, we couldn't help but all laugh every time! I was even allowed to have a turn!!

Short Videos

Here are two short videos from our tubing experience! As you can see I videoed Daddy and RJ going down the mountain (smoothly), then attempted to video Morgan on our way down... ha!

Eagle Rock

Today we visited Eagle Rock Resorts. This is where we have a plot of land that someday we hope to build on... someday!

The resort is nice. It has it's own skiing and snow tubing for the winter and golfing for the summer. There are several outdoor pools, game rooms, a gym, a spa, a lake, playgrounds, equestrian facilities, ball fields, and lots more... Eagle Rock is about an hour and 15 minutes from home, not too long a drive. We went up to take advantage of the 'free' passes we get for the slopes. Since all of us went we 'played' with snow tubing, not skiing... maybe next year we'll let Morgan try skiing! We get 20 free passes I think per season... We also drove past our property. When we first bought there were no roads, now there are roads around our land AND road signs! Neat to see how it has been developed! We drove around in circles (LITERALLY) to find our lot, and we think Morgan experienced her first bout of car sickness. She said her belly hurt, so we got her out and walked her around in the cold air and after a few minutes she felt fine again and didn't complain again. Hmm. We ate lunch (above pictures) in the ski lodge at the top of the hills, and ate supper in the base lodge. Much less crowded down below for supper (picture below) than for lunch! I think eventually they will need to expand the upper lodge! As for snow tubing... RJ was kind-of unsure the whole time, but didn't complain, just sat in his tube and went along for the ride. Morgan went down the hill one time with Daddy and started having a fit because she was cold... so we went and got lunch. After lunch she went with tubing with me and seemed to enjoy it more! I think we went down the slope 5 or 6 times. It was a nice family day! I'm tired though!! Lots of packing up, dressing, undressing, and walking!! We got an awesome family shot... Christmas card picture next year maybe?!

hoola---pee-pee

Morgan had a blast trying to hoola hoop in her room. She was doing a pretty good job at wiggling her little hips. I am not good at hooping, but she wanted me to try. It is a bit difficult to try and hoola hoop in such a small area, but I gave it my best shot! Hence... only pictures of Morgan!

Within the last week or so RJ has become very interested in sitting down on his little potty when Morgan goes potty. We are letting him sit but he hasn't yet gone in the potty. HOWEVER tonight he was running around without a diaper and... yup... let his liquid out on Morgan's floor... ugh. Patience is a virtue (I needed to repeat that to myself over and over and OVER again!!) How can one sit on the potty for over 5 minutes, not go, and then go within a minute of running around naked. Ok... breathe... I'm sure it will only be the first of many! BUT... how can you stay upset with that face?

What a cutie pie, if I do say so myself!!

Another Day Off

Today we had a snow day. I was bummed. I was hoping for a two hour delay. It is nice to have a day off, but it is not nice to have a day off when it has to be made in June.

(See Morgan's black eye? It has been over a week and it is finally starting to clear up. Morgan still doesn't know how she got it... I know she got it when she was at an Eagles Party with Daddy, but I don't know how either!)

The day was pretty yucky when the snow turned into ice which turned into rain. It wasn't the type of day that the kids and I could go out and play. It was a day that we stayed inside with the fire on and lots of toy playing!

Bob and I did create this awesome laundry basket stacker! We found the plans on an amazing website! It will hopefully keep the dirty and/or clean clothes more organized!

Swim Class

Today I had off for the Martin Luther King Holiday. I haven't gotten to see Morgan in a swim lesson since the summer! I was so excited to see her swim! MeMom has said how good she has been doing but I hadn't seen it for so long!! Then after Morgan's lesson I was going to take RJ in for his lesson so that I don't have to take him tomorrow night after a long day of work. I watched Morgan swim! She did awesome!! She swam so well with minimal assistance! She also tread water for a good ten seconds without her teacher's support! She was so amazing to watch! My little peanut is doing so well!!

RJ and I went in next... RJ cried 95% of the time. Urgh. He didn't want to go swimming and he was going to let me know! It has been months since he has had a temper tantrum the entire swim lesson. Today was the day... he fussed and whined and cried the whole time. NO.FUN! I still made him do all the things the teacher said, but he wasn't a very happy camper.

MeMom treated us to lunch, the kiddos played on the inside play equipment then we came home and they took naps.

Nice day off with the kids!

p.s....while the kids napped I was forced to take down the Christmas Tree... I ALWAYS hate taking down the tree, it is so depressing for me!
