HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY RJ!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 1st birthday my little bubba! I can't believe you are already 1!! The time has gone so fast... I love you more and more each day!

These cake pictures were taken at his party two weeks ago

These cupcake pictures were taken on his actual birthday

RJ- I can’t believe you are one year old! I remember as it was yesterday when I got my first contraction from you saying, “Hey Momma, I’m getting ready to come out and meet you!” I got more and more excited as the contractions got stronger and more painful over night. Then I got to meet you with a drug free labor just a bit after twelve noon that wonderful day! What a beautiful gift from God you were (and Daddy knew you were a boy right away!). You latched on right away and nursed like a champ from the first suckle! You were a slightly needy baby (unlike your easy going sis). You always wanted to be held and be the center of attention! You preferred me all the time! Which I loved most of the time… but sometimes I just needed a little time to take a nap or go potty! You were such a smiley baby! I am still in love with your gummy smile! (Still no teeth at a year, but I think they are coming.)

When we moved into our new house it almost seemed like you knew you belonged there. You began sleeping through the night almost immediately in your new bedroom! I was a little sad to not have you in the bassinet by my bed, but I know it was time!

When we started you on food you were not very fond of mushy baby food so I started you on real people food almost immediately. You really started wanting to eat around 7 months. You loved chicken and banana. You liked avocado in the beginning, but now you like to spit it out and laugh at us. Now you like to munch on crackers and pretzel sticks.

You have always loved to and still love to put anything and everything in your mouth! From little crumbs on the ground to grass to dirt to crayons! You also put toys and food in your mouth too!

You have definitely given me a run for my money at times to be patient and calm with you. At one point I gave in and even gave you a pacifier. Thank goodness you grew out of sucking it quickly and decided chewing on it was a better idea.

Watching you interact with your sister is priceless! You want to play with everything she has and you love crawling on top of her! She does well with you and usually shares her toys, food, self with you! Morgan loves to hold you, hug you, and kiss you! Sometimes you are not in the mood so you fuss but Morgan is in charge so you have no choice but to go with the flow!!

I have heard all your life and I’m sure it will continue, “Look at those eyes,” “He has bedroom eyes,” “Ladies man,” “Gorgeous eyes,” “I’d die for those eyes!” It is true, you have the biggest blue eyes that are just beautiful! Big blue eyes with gorgeous long lashes! I love looking at you and just admiring how beautiful you are!

I love you more and more every day!! Happy birthday one year old! Never stop being adorable! And always let me say I love you, give you hugs and kisses, and always always listen to what I tell you to do!

A birthday filled weekend!

Friday night we went to Angela and Hannah's kids party. Bethanne held it at her parents house because they had more room outside. We jumped on a moon bounce, ate pizza, and yummy homemade cupcakes. RJ ate a whole piece of pizza while I forced Morgan to eat half of her slice. She was more interested in the cheese doodles that someone handed her while I was focused on RJ!

Saturday I woke up at 6:15am. Why? I have no clue, but I couldn't get back to sleep. Urgh! Went grocery shopping around 7am. I think the old people in the line weren't very happy as they watched my never-ending cart unfolding! (There was only one cashier open, guess that is all they usually need on an Early Saturday morning!) I had to buy for RJ's party and the week for the family. When I got home RJ and Daddy were up and watching TV. I nursed RJ then started preparing food for the party, cutting up burger fixings, getting chip bowls organized and getting all the last minute odds-n-ends together. RJ and Morgan took great naps and I I actually had to wake Morgan up! Over a 3 hour nap! Way to go tired little girl!

Daddy set up a canopy outside, we set up tables and chairs under the tent and set up Morgan's moon bounce. We had a wonderful celebration. The Ellis cousins came which was a nice surprise. Uncle Bobby, Auntie Nikki, and Felicity made the trip up! That was a wonderful surprise!! We were so glad they came to celebrate RJ's first birthday with us! It really meant a lot to me! (Especially because Uncle Bobby had worked late on Friday night.) The kids played on the moon bounce, played in the sand box, and played in the playroom with all the millions of toys we own. Everyone seemed to get along great! The pull string pinata was the hit of the party! It was so much fun watching all the kiddos diving in for treats that fell out of the pinata. After cake and icecream (which RJ liked the icing, but not the cake as much) everyone packed up and headed home. We opened one present and then played with it for a little while. It was a choo-choo train toy. I think Morgan may have liked it better than RJ... for now...

Sunday was yet another busy day! We went to church and then to the West Chester Restaurant Festival. We go every year. It was very crowded, but they have tons of yummy food with many roads blocked off to walk up and down. My favorite this year was the pulled pork. It was BBQ and not spicy... just perfect for me! We walked around for three hours or so then stopped briefly at Aunt Jo and Uncle Sean's to pick up clothes for RJ before heading to the twins second party of the weekend. We got there just in time for presents and cake. We packed it in and left for home around 7:30 because I was exhausted! I can't imagine how the kids felt, but they were holding it together! I actually fell asleep before 9 o'clock last night!

We had a great, but exhausting weekend! Count down in now on to Aunt Meggie and Uncle Andy's wedding!

Back to School Night

RJ with the dogs

Twirling!

Today was a crazy busy day!! Usual bright and early routine, get the kids to the sitter, to school, and then back to pick the kids up. Then the day got busier! We ran to the store and bought RJ a new 'better' insulated lunch bag (his birthday gift lunch box leaks condensation... bummed, but we'll use it for shorter days!). Then we ran to MeMom's, let her dogs out then headed for my last dress fitting for Megan's wedding. Back to MeMom's house, dropped the kids and ran back for back-to-school-night. Parents love it, teachers hate it! Teachers that stand in front of 20+ kids all day get all dressed up, freshened up (lots of perfume smells waifed through the hallways), and get nervous to speak to the parents! To me it is a humorous thought, me... ha I wore the same outfit all day and brushed my hair real quick and checked my teeth for Oreo remnants (supper). Then I was ready to go! A few parents came in to welcome me back, and I met a couple new parents. Only one mishap, when the principle was welcoming all the parents in the gym a man collapsed, ambulance came and he was ok... thank goodness! Around 9 we all left, I went back to MeMom and Pop Pop's house to get the kiddos and came home. RJ fell asleep, Morgan stayed wide awake! Put them to bed, then bed for me... What a tiring day!

Faces...

Church was insane today... RJ wanted no parts of being stationary and Morgan wanted to sit on my lap the entire time... which would have been fine if Daddy was with me to double-team, but he was working so it was me trying to make two kids satisfied and still follow mass! Ha!! Nothing like triple-tasking!

Morgan has learned to draw faces! This is the first time I saw her draw an approximation of a face that actually looked like a face! Way to go little girl!!

For supper we had left over meatballs from the baby shower held at our house yesterday... as you can see both cherubs scarfed them down... I could barely keep up and actually had to eat after they were done!!

What's that saying... a face only a Mom could love??

Dressed in purple

The kids in their purple pj's... yes... real men can wear purple!!! I don't really have any 12 months pj's right now (b/c I need to go and get my 12 month clothes from Morgan and RJ's Aunt Jo b/c Zandi was borrowing them, but she has outgrown them). Once I get all the clothes back I have less 'girly' clothes in the bins, but until then RJ will just have to wear pretty colored pj's... but hey, at least hey fit! He seems pretty happy!! And to top it off... he is playing with the doll house with his sister! All gender equality here!

(don't worry... immediately after this picture that cord was removed from RJ's grasp!)

New TOY

For Daddy that is...

Daddy got a new (used) tractor. Daddy and the tractor seem to get along very well! Morgan was even allowed to help Daddy take it for a spin!
