Father's Day Hike

For Father's Day this year Bob asked to go on a hike.  We brought Willow and we set off on our soon to be VERY long journey!

Quick stop to smell the wild flowers... and grab a few photos

All feeling pretty good... on we go!
About 2 miles in...

First stop for some cold water!  3 or so miles in...

Cool bridge!

Picture time! (And who are we kidding, the family needed another quick rest!)  There were LOTS of hills!!  ...and it seemed like we never went down as much as we walked up!

Even the pup needed a cool down!

Hiking we spotted a Blue Heron!  He seemed to be perched perfectly!

Neat old covered bridge along the trail

Not sure we can go any further... but according to the map we have 2 miles to go to completed the 8.5 mile hike!  Wait, what?  YUP... the path we took ended up being marked as 8.5 miles.  Oh my goodness!

Momma, the cheerleader... we got this family!  We are *almost there!!  So close!

We made it!!!
Kinda?!

Momma's app documented this via her phone...
Holy Wow!

After we picked ourselves up off the ground (and were forced to stretch by Momma) we HAD to hit the local dessert shop... if for nothing else to cool our bodies down and replenish some liquid lost!!)

Lots of time spent together as a family... probably lots of sore muscles tomorrow!

The only downfall to the day... no lie -- RJ found 8 ticks crawling on him!  Thank goodness none were yet attached when he found them!  Hopefully none of those creatures bit him!  Will keep an eye on him just in case!
