Random tadbit from my day...
I am working with some boys diagnosed with Autism this year. I am actually enjoying it! I really enjoy working with the lowest two that are minimally verbal. After working with a student today (modeling and hand over hand to put blocks on top, in front, and behind a basket) we walked back to his classroom. Getting his attention (putting my head in front of his) I said, "Goodbye (boy's name)." He answered, "Goodbye Mrs. Lee." I started chatting with the teacher and then when I was ready to leave said goodbye to the student again. This time he said, "So long." I responded with, "See you later alligator" at which point he turned my body towards the door and gently started pushing me to the door saying, "See you later Mrs. Lee." HEY! I'll take it, great language!! I KNOW there is more in there than his little body will let out!!

I love this post...I have my little girl who also has autism (trying to get her to the special program set up for her) but anywayz - I love her too! Everything she says she says the person's name she is speaking to. "You must be sick Mrs. Schultz" "Are you okay Jacob?" "It's okay Josselyn"....such good intentions!!! (And I know it could be completely opposite, so I am lucky!)
