Things have been insane since March 6th! Everything ended up falling into place...but it was a nail biter until the end! After settlement on Friday March 6th Bob and I really didn't believe it was all over and that the house was finally ours! The mortgage guy really was an incompetent fellow and his boss will definitely be getting a letter of concern from us! Why would you wait until one week before settlement to request a list of paperwork items that were needed!? Did I mention we asked what he would need dating back to December! Anyway...it ended up working out and the house was officially ours! Whew!
The following week was all about painting and wood projects! With the help of our wonderful friends Jo and Sean (and PopPop) we got the entire house painted in three days! The most help from Jo...ten million thanks to her! With aching backs and blisters on our hands we made the house look very colorful and homey!
Baby just woke up from his nap...will have to write more later...
Tuesday night around 6:15pm finally time to write again...
Painting got finished and Bob's wood projects got finished just in time! The dining room looks very nice...thanks to Sean for helping to make the cuts and Uncle Ken for helping with the crown molding... our dining room looks very 'elegant' or 'sophisticated' (whichever adjective Bob likes better!)
Monday the 16th was the big move in with the movers! What a nightmare!!!!! We have used the moving company several times before as well as my parents and a few of our friends have used them with no problems...we were very pleased in the PAST...this time we were not so happy! We have found so many problems including a broken knob on the washer, a misaligned knob on the dryer, a humongous chunk out of our dining room table, and scratches all over our china hutch and my chest of drawers (just to name a few!!) Of course we didn't get the 'extra' insurance b/c we never had trouble before...so we end up getting 60 cents per pound for each piece of furniture that had a problem. Not much when the washer/dryer bill came to just under 300 dollars to fix them!! Yickes...we better have one heavy washer...oh that is the other catch... they have a government provided weigh chart so they have weights for all items already predetermined! Doesn't matter what our furniture 'really' weighs... wonderful! Luckily we found a wonderful gentleman who refinishes tables etc for a reasonable price...and did a spectacular job! We were very grateful to find him! Let me know if you ever need a piece touched up! He just really did an amazing job!
Now time for all the unpacking to begin!! As of now (Tuesday 3-24) we have the entire playroom unpacked and put away, the entire kitchen and family room unpacked and put away, the dining room has no boxes in it (but we don't have our china cabinet filled yet) and the living room is almost de-boxed! We are still working on the upstairs and the basement has a million boxes still in it! We will probably go through them one at a time!
KIDS UPDATE!!
I feel so bad for neglecting this site for the last few weeks! RJ has done so many things and I feel like he has grown like crazy! He is now wearing comfortably 6 months clothing! 3 months clothes seem to be a little short length wise on his arms, torso, and legs! On Monday March 9th he found his tongue and started sticking it out and and in and wiggling it all about! By Thursday of that week he learned how to blow raspberries! Although I see more spit than anything else he definitely blows raspberries with his tongue out! I already mentioned as of this past Sat (the 21st) he can roll over from back to belly. He is starting to pull his legs up under him when he is on his belly so it seems like crawling is only a matter of time...I don't want to rush him though... b/c he won't be my little baby anymore once he can move! Although today as I type this he has moved a good amount of yardage just by rolling and is contently eating one of Morgan's jelly shoes!
Morgan just loves RJ! I have to keep a close eye on her b/c she will 'imitate' something I have done...just not as softly as I did! For example I will lean over RJ on all 4's to kiss his nose/chin, etc...Morgan will lay on top off RJ to kiss his nose, chin, etc... Lots of reminders that right now RJ is a lot smaller than she is! She loves to play peek-a-boo with him! She sometimes covers his face with a blanket (while I watch!) or she covers her fce with her hands...it is just too adorable! She loves to have books read to her and also likes to 'read' books out loud to herself! She is saying "I love you" much more understandable now! She refers to our new home as "new house" and "new room" and loves her playroom! She will clean up with help from the clean up song and Momma or Daddy. Her hair is starting to get long and out of control! Must always put something in it now or it falls in her eyes and she complains, "eyes". She is also into the sillies! Everything is either a game or "Organ do" is the comment we get. She is talking lots and lots however still is missing beginning sounds and other random sounds in words! I am really trying to get those sounds to come without pushing too hard...but come on cutie...you are driving me bunkers! She is also sitting on the potty every morning when she gets up from sleeping. We are about 75% successful...I'm not pushing it yet! We are taking our time with the potty training thing...there is no rush!! Watching her now she is reading a book out loud to herself and she is licking her finger to flip the page...must have picked that up from Daddy or me! She is such a sponge! I love it! It is amazing to see how much she learns everyday! It may not be as obvious as RJ (big things like rolling over) but I see it in her small behaviors and her vocabulary!
I think I've updated as much as I can and I'm sure you are tired of reading by now!! I just felt so bad for not writing for so long!! Hugs to all!!
