Today, August 23rd, yay, my birthday... yet another year older...
The day started out amazing! Got up and had a refreshing 4+ mile run (the humidity finally dropped so it felt so nice)! Got home enjoyed a cup of coffee that Bob ran out and got from Dunkin Donuts while I was out running (yum!) When the kiddods got up Morgan insisted I go back upstairs because she wanted to make me 'breakfast in bed.' Up I went, and she made a nice humongous breakfast for me to enjoy!
Made with lots of love!!
Then came the rest of the day... not so great, unfortunately sad to report. I tried to make the best of it and be thankful for a birthday and that everyone I care for is healthy and safe, but I have to admit I was feeling a little glum. I wanted to do one of 4 things.
1. Sit on the couch and watch mindless TV and do absolutely nothing.
2. Go to Dutch Wonderland as a family!
3. Go to Dutch Springs as a family!
4. Go to the pool for the day as an entire family
ALL were shot down by Bob. He had no interest in doing any of them. I am starting to get in my bit of going back to school depression state and just wanted to do one last fun thing with the entire family. INSTEAD... I did laundry, washed dishes, and cleaned the house on my birthday. Wahoo! NOT!
Morgan could tell I was upset as I was folding and putting away clothes, so she shared she had a surprise for me... I came down and she has this waiting... my sweet peanut!
A yogurt parfait!
With cut up fresh fruit (peaches and grapes)
Later she played a song on the piano for me...
Gotta love my little peanuts attempts to make her Momma smile and feel loved!
Next, Bob asked what I wanted for supper. I said something low key, something on the grill? He said no... and off we went to the place HE wanted to go to eat supper. An expensive seafood restaurant 45 minutes away! To me to the food tasted the same as going to any other seafood restaurant... but he said it was better... whatever! ;)
(RJ eating Momma's soup)
(Cheers to Momma on her birthday!)
From there we ran to Barnes and Nobles for the kiddos to get their free books from reading over the summer! (yay!)
Stopped at the store to get an icecream cake that I suggested... doesn't everyone know by now icecream cake is my go-to, not regular cake?!
And last... off to bed... good night day. It wasn't the birthday fun I imagined, but trying to see the glass half-full. I am healthy, have an amazing family, and am blessed with so much. I need to work on being thankful for all I have.
