We visited Santa and hunted for a tree! It was not a very fond memory for me... it started out great and turned into a terrible disaster!
Santa visit went well after we waited a long time! We were only 5th or so in line, BUT there was a daycare there getting a group photo with the big guy! It took FOREVER!!!! The kiddos were more patient that I was! TheY got to see Santa and smiled great!
Then we headed out to find our tree... disaster begins to strike. We went to where Daddy had looked up on the computer... although even with several reminders for Daddy to call and ask for prices he did not. Momma wanted to go to the tree farm we went to two years ago and the several years before that, but that didn't happen because Daddy said that was 'too far away.'
Well... on our way Daddy couldn't find a restaurant to eat at so we had to get food from McDonald's. That didn't make Daddy happy... continued on towards the tree farm...
We found it... I won't mention any names because I am sure their trees were pretty... BUT for the size tree we wanted, it was going to be over $100!!! GULP!!! We weren't going to pay that so we drove to another close by tree farm... again... probably pretty trees, but again over $100 for the size we were looking for... (NOW... we had wasted a lot of time at this point...and if we had just gone to the tree farm I wanted to from the very beginning we would have had our tree for $40 and been home...) So, we found a final tree farm... we walked up the entire mountain and found one we liked. We started sawing, nothing happened... I asked SEVERAL times if I should walk all the way down the mountain to get another saw... NO Daddy responded, it is just the stump is too big because of the size tree. I asked over and over if he wanted another saw... he got the tree almost half sawed and said forget it...and decided to leave the half cut tree there and leave. I was sooooo upset, I couldn't help but cry! Several other families said they needed to get different saws because their saws were too dull and they struggled with cutting down their tree. But, my stubborn husband decided this whole fiasco was my fault and we left...
Let me set the scene... getting even later... starting to rain... getting colder...getting darker. We went to the local tree farm that I went to growing up. WELL.. It was raining by this point and it was so, so muddy... Morgan and I came to the car (my crying...) and Daddy and RJ picked a tree. The tree was BARELY taller than Bob and it fit in our car... that tells you how small it was!!!!!
The tree was gotten, but it was not a very happy day... knowing we usually get a 11-12 foot tree because of our tall ceiling... ugh. Glad our day is over!
